- Abstract
- Recently, the new trend of technology advancements towards fifth generation (5G) services has driven multitude of new applications and usage cases. However, only few studies were conducted to examine users' perspectives toward mobile services with 5G services. To this extend, this paper conducts a two-step comparative approach to examine the key determinants of users' technology adoption behavior on fourth generation (4G) and 5G services. We selected top-cited articles on users' technology acceptance behavior on 4G and 5G services, respectively. Then, as the first stage, we concisely reviewed each article. Second, we examined the results and findings of prior 4G and 5G technology acceptance research. We concluded that both perceived usefulness and ease of use play notable determinants in examining 4G and 5G services for their users. However, compared to 4G services, a number of newly introduced factors were considered as key variables for determining users' intention to use 5G services. Based on the results, several useful insights were highlighted for both practical and academic researchers. © 2022 IEEE.
