The rapid increase in Electric vehicle market has resulted in extensive utilization of the Lithium-ion batteries. However, the battery life is limited and has put forward the problem of managing battery waste and recycling. This study presents a bibliometric review based on Quantitative and Qualitative analysis made on recent advances in metal recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries and the reutilization of these recycled metal oxides for the fabrication of supercapacitor electrode. Bibliometric data were retrieved from Scopus and WoS using targeted keywords. The search of battery recycling yielded 10,502 results in Scopus and 9,243 in WoS. A more focused query based on Metal extraction from Lithium-ion batteries and battery recycling focused on the documents published from 2020 to 2025 resulted into 429 in Scopus and 758 in WoS is considered for this study. Quantitative analysis covered publication trends, country-wise contributions, citation analysis, affiliations, subject categories and collaborative networks using VOSviewer. The study included qualitative assessment focusing on various conventional and emerging metal extraction methods including pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical, electrometallurgical, biometallurgical and direct recycling. The hybrid metal extraction approaches were also compared. The study also focuses on documents retrieved from databases towards fabrication of Supercapacitor electrode using recycled materials particularly from Lithium-ion batteries. A comparison between Sustainable Supercapacitors fabricated from recycled material with the commercial supercapacitor were also included. The study offers a structured view of opportunities for circular reuse of battery materials.
