초록
Asymmetric organocatalysis represents a compelling alternative to metal catalysis and biocatalysis. Nevertheless, the practical utility of chiral organocatalysts remains constrained by high catalyst loadings and limited substrate scopes. To enable broader application, improvements in catalytic efficiency are essential - ideally approaching the performance of enzymes and transition metals. Over the past two decades, intensive research efforts have led to the development of ultra-efficient organocatalytic platforms capable of operating at remarkably low catalyst loadings - reaching parts-per-million or parts-per-billion levels - through innovative designs, novel activation methodologies, and emerging technologies. This chapter discusses recent key breakthroughs in low-loading asymmetric organocatalysis, particularly at levels below 500 ppm, highlighting the associated challenges and solutions.
