This study presents ĝRadiogenesis', a serious game developed with the core objective of enhancing radiation safety education. Grounded in the Design-Play-Experience framework and incorporating key mechanisms from Social Cognitive Theory, the game offers a cognitively engaging, interactive, and immersive learning model tailored to disaster response training. A theory-driven design process, combined with small-scale user testing, was employed to evaluate the game's educational applicability. The user evaluation indicates that the game not only supports learners in acquiring essential knowledge but also significantly enhances their risk perception, promotes attitude shifts, and strengthens behavioral intentions. Participants demonstrated noticeable improvements in self-efficacy, information discernment, and confidence in managing radiation-related emergencies - validating the effectiveness of the integrated DPE-SCT framework in fostering learning motivation and improving educational outcomes. In summary, this research offers both theoretical and empirical support for the application of serious games in science education and public risk communication, underscoring the practical potential of game-based learning to facilitate cognitive, attitudinal, and behavioral transformation. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
