This paper proposes a terminal voltage (Vt)-based state of charge (SOC) estimation algorithm for lithium-ion batteries used in the long-term operation of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). The proposed algorithm is composed of a Vt correction approach based on the battery's internal series resistance (Rs). In addition, under high-current operating conditions a Coulomb-counting method (CCM) is applied until the polarization component diminishes to improve SOC estimation accuracy. Determining the point at which polarization is reduced, comparing the time constants at high C rate. The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by comparing the SOC estimation accuracy by applying an longterm UUVs profile.
