초록

This work explores corrosion prevention methods for gray cast iron brake discs in electric vehicles, using encapsulated Na3PO4 and Na2MoO4 corrosion inhibitors in the phenolic resin capsule. Potentiodynamic polarization tests and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy reveal the corrosion inhibitory effect of Na3PO4 and Na2MoO4, showing the corrosion inhibition efficiency of 98.0 % and 65.2 %. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy provides insights into the inhibition mechanisms of Na3PO4 and Na2MoO4. The atmospheric corrosion tests confirmed the synergetic inhibitory effects of Na3PO4 and Na2MoO4 and the corrosion prevention effect of encapsulated inhibitors, showing maximum corrosion inhibition efficiency of 72.41 %. These anti-corrosion capsules provide sustainable atmospheric corrosion prevention of brake discs without degradation of corrosion inhibitors during the manufacturing process of brake pads, making them a viable solution for long-term durability and environmental sustainability in the braking systems of electric vehicles. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd
