초록

The FWKO (Free Water Knockout) is the most critical component in the oil sands processing system, responsible for separating water, oil, and gas. Many studies have attempted to improve the separation efficiency by modifying the shape of the weir, which is one of the key components of the FWKO. Unlike previous studies, this research applied a concave weir based on considerations to better understand the interface and increase residence time. However, excessive curvature was found to reduce residence ti me, highlighting the necessity of identifying an optimal curvature for the concave weir. Using a genetic algorithm, the optimal curvature was successfully determined. As a result, the separation efficiency improved by 1.21 %p compared to the referenced model, demonstrating significant potential contributions to the oil sands industry.
