초록

Damage to maternal DNA during meiosis can lead to genetic abnormalities that cause complications such as infertility, birth defects, and miscarriage. To maintain oocyte quality, it is crucial to detect and repair damaged DNA. Despite the negative impact of DNA damage on the reproductive capacity and genomic integrity of embryos, the ability of oocytes to respond to DNA damage and the influence of DNA repair on oocyte quality have received relatively little research attention until recently. In this chapter, we discuss the current state of knowledge regarding the preservation of genomic integrity in the face of DNA damage and the mechanisms of DNA repair during female meiosis.
