This study extended the concept of self-efficacy to ChatGPT and explored the association between ChatGPT prompt self-efficacy, accurate and customized information, perceived ease of use, user satisfaction, and the intention to continue using ChatGPT. Data were collected from ChatGPT users via online surveys and the relationships between variables were examined using structural equation modeling. The results indicated that, first, ChatGPT prompt self-efficacy is positively associated with both the accuracy and customization of information generated by ChatGPT, as well as its perceived ease of use. Second, accurate and customized information, as well as perceived ease of use, positively predicted user satisfaction with ChatGPT. Finally, user satisfaction significantly influenced the intention to continue using ChatGPT. These findings suggest that users’ confidence in formulating prompts shapes their perceptions of information quality and ease of use, which subsequently influence their satisfaction and continued use intention. Finally, the implication of the findings is discussed. © 2025 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
