The authors regret that there were errors in the originally published version of this article concerning the unit conversion of the point of departure (POD), which affected both the potency and classification of PHMG-p according to the new carcinogenicity classification approach proposed by Doe et al. (2022). The errors appear in Section 3.3.2. (Potency and human exposure assessment, page 7) and the Discussion section (pages 8–9). The original value of 0.0018 mg/m³ was incorrectly converted to 1.8 mg/L, resulting in PHMG-p being classified as having ‘medium’ potency (0.02 < POD < 2 mg/L). However, the correct conversion of 0.0018 mg/m³ is 0.0000018 mg/L (1.8 ng/L), which places PHMG-p in the ‘high’ potency category (POD < 0.02 mg/L). Consequently, the potency category should be corrected from ‘medium’ to ‘high’ and the classification statement for PHMG-p should be revised accordingly. PHMG-p should instead be classified as a ‘Category B’ substance, which requires health-based guidance values based on the effects that lead to the modification of carcinogenesis, to inform appropriate choices for risk management (Doe et al., 2022).
