This paper investigates dual three-phase Fractional-Slot Concentrated Winding (FSCW) motors for Urban Air Mobility (UAM), highlighting the limitations of conventional design methods that assume an ideal current source. Several FSCW topologies designed to reduce MMF harmonics were analyzed first with an ideal current source via Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and then through a motor-inverter co-simulation using SVPWM control without decoupling. While the ideal-source analysis showed successful harmonic reduction, the co-simulation revealed that mutual coupling between winding sets induced significant harmonic circulating currents, leading to increased Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and AC losses not predicted by the initial analysis. This study demonstrates that an integrated cosimulation approach is essential for accurately designing dual three-phase motors, as it captures critical mutual coupling effects ignored by ideal-source models.
